The Future of Revenue

It is with great excitement that we unveil The Future of Revenue, a video we have been working on with Eloqua over the last few months.

A continuation of our history / state / future of series, of which The State of the Internet was the first, the Future of Revenue looks at the last 100 years in business process management to help determine how and what is the “next big thing.”

We are also aggregating and visualizing tweets that relate to revenue like IPO and ROI over on the Future of Revenue microsite. Pretty amazing to see the daily volume on these topics, to say the least.

So what IS the future of revenue, exactly? From our joint press release:

The Future of Revenue video identifies breakthrough ideas – scientific management, total quality management, supply chain management – and looks at the competitive advantage enjoyed by early adopters. The narrative culminates in the emergence of RPM, a systematic approach to analyzing and predicting the results of a businesses largest and least understood cost center: marketing and sales.

According to CMO Brian Kardon, this video is consistent with Eloqua’s colorful approach to marketing, “We are speaking to a broad audience with our revenue performance management story. We are ambassadors for this new sector. So, to that end, we’ve wrapped the very serious RPM story in a package that is so entertaining, so visually appealing, that our audience will be inspired to talk about it and share it with others. We are weaving word of mouth into the fabric of our marketing.

Jesse Thomas, co-founder of JESS3 and the creative lead on the project, added, “We wanted this to have an authentic style that would draw viewers in at any level — students, executives Our approach was inspired by School House Rock, which arguably paved the way for educational videos to be entertaining masterpieces. A departure from our data visualization / infographic style, we were elated when Eloqua was willing to experiment with hand illustration. The result is pure magic.”
