I think the new Spider-Man movie looks appropriately darker than the first couple. The contrast reminds me of the Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie franchises.

The first few Batman movies were super dark and scary even. Same with TMNT, the first and second were really good and dark. But then sadly, the third Batman and TMNT movies were both super lame and cheesy. Looks like the creators of The Amazing Spider-Man movie are taking a move in the right direction.
