CES 2011: Antoine Dodson, Angry Birds Steal Show At Fourth Annual Mashable Awards

Are you a person who is truly passionate about technology and the Internet? Find yourself spending hours on end browsing around and finding the coolest stuff?

Last night, Mashable held their fourth annual awards show inside the New York New York in Las Vegas, Nevada. The goal of the show: highlight and recognize the best the web has to offer.

Here are a few of the best parts of the show from last night.

Antoine Dodson makes an appearance. After taking home an award for the Best Internet Meme, “Bed Intruder”, Dodson made an appearance and was interviewed by Mashable’s Adam Ostrow.
Ostrow asked many questions of Dodson to allow the audience to see just how much one viral video has changed his life. Dodson also said he had been in the recording studio, so a new album from Dodson should be expected in the near future.

Everyone goes crazy for Angry Birds. Rovio’s “Angry Birds” won the award for best mobile game, and it appeared to be a landslide. Shortly after the announcement that the game had won, the winners came out and threw out a few Angry Birds plush toys to the crowd, generating some of the loudest cheers and buzz of the night.
Angry Birds is undoubtedly one of the best games on the mobile platform, if not the best, so this award was not a surprise for most.

Android wins the award for the best mobile platform. Mashable announced back in August that Android became the top-selling smartphone OS, but it still was up against fierce competition against Apple’s OS.
With more and more Android OS phones hitting the market, it is likely Android’s already major presence will only continue to grow.
The Cirque du Soleil made an appearance and put on a brief show for the audience. Baratunde Thurston, a well-known comedian, hosted the awards.
