DC Design FOOS Tournament

update:

—-

The games will be held at Fleishman-Hillard at 1615 L Street, NW, on the 11th floor (FH is also located on 10, but DON’T GO THERE. You will set off alarms). You will probably have to sign in at the entrance level, then take the elevator to the 11th floor and signs will direct you to the “playing field”. The office is located 1 block from the Farragut North metro (red line) and 2 blocks from the Farragut West metro (orange and blue). Lots of bus stop options as well.

Doors open at 6, tournament starts at 6:30 — That gives people 30 minutes to show up, grab beers and get the party started. Find me (I will be wearing a red cap with white polka dots) to get your bracket number, pay up if you still owe and complete your registration in order to play. If you can’t make it by 6:30 let me know and I’ll stick you in a later bracket. If you aren’t around when your number is called, you forfeit the challenge.

There will be 2 tables, a Tornado and another slightly less than regulation foosball table, so that we can have multiple games going on at the same time and not play into the wee hours. If you whine about the condition of either of the tables we will make fun of you, and if the whining gets out of hand we’ll ask you to leave without a refund and you will be forever remembered as “that guy/girl”.

It will be a double elimination tournament so if you lose right away, don’t fret — you’ll have another chance to prove your worth. Each game will be a 5 point elimination until the final 4 teams which will be 3 games, 10 points each.

Please review the rules before participation because there will be refs and you will be called out on foul play. http://www.foosball.com/learn/rules/ustsa/

Most notably, there will be NO SPINNING of the rods allowed and other general amateur foosball maneuvers. This is not a joke. You’re competing for the championship title and a trip to NYC to participate in the World Graphic Design Foosball Championship (WGDFC). We cannot have rod spinners or ball blowers representing DC in November.
