Hurricane Sandy is one of the ten most costliest hurricanes to hit the U.S., placing sixth on the list according to a study from the National Hurricane Center.

Are hurricane’s getting stronger? Seven of the last ten on the list have occurred since the year 2000. Hurricane Katrina comes in as the most expensive costing a whopping $108.4 billion, while Sandy is estimated to cost $20 billion. The chart below helps puts things in perspective:
