Quora 101

The key themes a business needs to keep in mind for Quora are monitoring, and engagement.

  1. Be different. Use images in your posts wherever possible.
  2. Monitor for areas you sell your expertise in, respond. Using Google alerts with the query “quora jess3” for instance, will in real time for free send me emails mentioning jess3.
  3. Start threads for areas you sell an expertise in, stay engaged. This is an obvious one. Engage. Be a part of the conversations in your industry. This is how you build your businesses reputation on Quora.
  4. Recruit for talent based on responses and thread starters. Discover great thinkers via monitoring your industry terms and engage in public and/or private conversations with them.
  5. Monitor competition. You might also want to put a google alert for your competitions mentions on quora via google alerts. In general, you want to know what your industry is talking about, and this will include your rivals, partners, and everything in between. Know your enemy.
  6. Create threads and responses that mention your business. When possible create content that is relevant to things you have done, so that you can interject mentions of things that benefit your point of view.

Quora is like an active version of Wikipedia. A business has to respond to any mentions of their brand. Business leaders should create content, asking questions, and answering others. Quora is very powerful for research.
