C-SPAN political producer Ben O’Connell, the project lead on the Debate Hub: “The first and foremost reason we wanted to do this is that C-SPAN has always been committed to getting as many voices heard as possible — we see this almost as an extension of our call-in programs. The second reason is that we’re creating a beachhead in social media. We recognize that this is a major part of public discourse now, and we want to engage in it.”
