I don’t know how I feel about this. The fact that Linkedin was only text added an element of value. Something about this makes me think that Linkedin might take the albeit successful turn to a popularity contest. Right now you are judged on your words … but now you will be judged by your image. I started to use my skull logo in lieu of a profile image for just such a reason … My ugly mug would scare people off!

I can just imagine people putting puppy dogs and what not as their icon … and I suppose that is similar to an image you would put up in your cubicle. But I think that Linkedin is supposed to be more official than that. It’s almost like they could have gotten the official picture from your employer and used that … or your drivers license picture from the DMV.
