East Jesus: One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure

Last week JESS3 took you on a field trip to Salvation Mountain. I was there myself just about a month ago, for Valentine’s Day. (Advanced romance stuff – don’t try this at home.)

However, there’s more to this area. And I don’t mean the alien crash site. Which is also there, and definitely legit.

Past the fork in the road…

… the art collective and sculpture garden of East Jesus awaits.

East Jesus was the creation of the late Charlie Russel. These are his Art Cars. Yes, those are bullets on both of them.

And a creature made of plastic bags.

Anything and everything is used to make art in East Jesus – from donated supplies to old liquor bottles to trash found in the desert.

This bus is named Walter. You can stay there overnight if you need to.

And it can become anything. Including an eight-foot-tall seesaw.

They also are not the biggest fans of dolphins.

But hey, drive on out and see for yourself. Or fly out, like this guy did.

And see some of the other glorious sites there.

Check out more about East Jesus here.
