Valentine’s Day: Love Don’t Cost A Thing?

Jenny from the Block was never more wrong as when she proclaimed that ‘love don’t cost a thing.’ According to a recent study by the National Retail Federation, Valentine’s Day is a $18.6 billion industry.

So, what are the true costs of love? I present Valentine’s Day by the numbers… and GIFs.

First, the average male shopper will spend $175.61, while their female counterparts will spend $88.78.

Also, the majority of people plan on buying candy. Can you say:

A total spending on furry and feathered friends is expected to reach $815 million.

But nearly 40% of the population will shop at discount stores for their gift.

Finally, 15% of people will buy gift cards. To which we say:

Happy Valentine’s Day.
